Our office in Brussels

The Federation of Austrian Industry has been a strong and long-term supporter of the Austrian EU membership and the idea of European integration.

We have been representing the interests of Austrian Industry already since 1984 at the European level, when we became a member of BUSINESSEUROPE , the Confederation of European Business.

In 1988 we opened our own representation in Brussels to be on the spot and work even more timely and effectively for our members.

The head of the Brussels office is at the same time the designated permanent representative to BUSINESSEUROPE.

Our Brussels office provides for a direct representation of the Federation of Austrian Industry and its members to EU institutions and other decision makers, trade associations and lobbying organisations.

We see our role as the link between the legislation process at European level and implementation in Austria. We act as an information transfer tool and provide early-warning through our continuous monitoring of key policies.

The principal task of the Brussels office is to provide and coordinate information and lobbying activities focusing on the interests of the Austrian Industry.

Main responsibilities and tasks:

  • EU policy: liaison body for monitoring and information
  • Development and coordination of EU lobbying strategies
  • Permanent representation of the Federation of Austrian Industry to BUSINESSEUROPE
  • Service point for our members in Brussels (information, networking, specific interest support)
