“Anton Wildgans Award” of the Federation of Austrian Industries

Back in 1962 the Federation of Austrian Industries decided to further expand the organisation's cultural activities. The "Anton Wildgans Award" for outstanding performance in literature was then created. Ever since, this annual award has been given to younger or middle aged Austrian writers who are approaching the zenith of their abilities. All writers of Austrian nationality publishing in German will be considered for the award, regardless of their current place of residence. The winner will be selected by a jury.

The "Anton Wildgans Award" demonstrates the IV's appreciation of and devotion to this extraordinary poet, who like few others represented "Austrian style" at its best.
